From there, place the character inside a wider scenario, add a cast and opening, or remix the story around them. Supported app versions also open Oncilo scenario exports in .json and .oncilo files.

- Oncilo is an AI roleplay and interactive storytelling app. You choose a role inside a playable scenario, act freely, and continue a story through prose, dialogue, relationships, and connected world details.
- Is Oncilo a character chat app?
- Oncilo includes in-character conversations, but it is designed around story progression rather than isolated chat. A scenario can include a player role, a cast, an opening scene, relationships, rules, and world information.
- What is the difference between Plot and Storyline?
- Plot gives you a role, a cast, a world, and an opening scene for freeform roleplay. Storyline adds tracked relationships, possessions, and other story stats, plus chapters and branches that unlock through your interactions. The details depend on the story and require a supported app version.
- Can I keep playing after the main chapters?
- Storylines can include an open-ended final chapter. Continue talking with the cast and exploring what follows, carrying forward the events and relationships of your playthrough. The available chapters depend on the story.
- Can I create or remix stories?
- Yes. Start from an idea and choose Plot or Storyline. Refine your cast, world, and opening with AI, or remix an existing story into a separate version. A supported Plot can also become a new Storyline with tracked progress and chapters.
- Can I import PNG Character Cards?
- Yes. Oncilo recognizes community-format PNG Character Card V1, V2, and V3 data and brings supported personality, greetings, and linked World Info into a scenario. Supported app versions also import Oncilo scenario exports in .json or .oncilo files; arbitrary JSON and CHARX files are not supported.
- Is Oncilo a mobile SillyTavern alternative?
- Oncilo is an alternative when you want a native iPhone and Android story-first app with PNG Character Card import and no model setup. It is not a drop-in replacement for a power-user frontend and does not expose BYOK routing, local inference, Regex scripts, sampler controls, or a configurable prompt stack.
- Do I need an API key or local server?
- No. Oncilo provides story generation inside the app, so you can start without configuring an API provider, running another computer, or choosing model sampler settings.
- Where can I download Oncilo?
- Oncilo is available on the App Store for iPhone and on Google Play for Android. It is free to download and offers optional in-app purchases.
